A similiar Retrovirus was found in the mid 1980's by Dr. Elaine DeFreitas at Wistar Institute in Pensylvania. When she published her work the CDC tried to replicate it and deliberately damaged the results and then refused to fly from Atlanta to Philadelphia to stand next to her and do the study together. The CDC people then issued papers saying that this virus did not exist and because it did not exist did not cause or have anyting to do with Chronic Fatigue/Immune Dysfunction. The paper was published in 1990. From that point on, no one researched Retroviruses except for AIDS because the researchers saw that DeFreitas' work, career and reputation were destroyed by the CDC. Funding was taken away by the CDC and NIH. So, here we are, almost three decades later and the CDC continues to do everything in its power to demean those with CFIDS. They have covered-up the origins of this disease and started destroying the outcome of CDC replication even before the study had started - That was Dr. Wiliam Reeves of the CDC/CFS program. Reeves and his associates and contractors have ensured that CFIDS remains a psycho-babble disease that blames the victims - meaning, the sick WANT to remain sick and refues to get better. Of course there are over 6,000 major research studies on all aspects of CFIDS including 88 genes discovered by Dr. Jonathan Kerr and high tech brain SPECTS by Dr. Amen that show the damage to the brain (no short, medium -term memory, major cognitive issues) and the damage to the immune system, endocrine system, GI, GYN, - the entire body and ALL of its systems. Congress investigated and found that the CDC/CFS program had misused funding for CFIDS back in 1999.
