Human Consciousness and the Global Brain

GlobalPeopleStoriesWellness

Do you ever get the feeling that life is moving a little faster with each passing day? That there’s more going on and less time to catch up with it all? You’re probably not alone. The pace of communication, transportation, and even the changes to our physical environment seems to be accelerating in a way that leaves many of us overwhelmed. But there is a good reason to believe that the influence of your choices — your thoughts, feelings, and actions — is greater than ever before.

Wherever you are right now, the energetic signals that your brain is creating are being uploaded into a planet-size information-storage system known as the geomagnetic field. As David R. Hawkins writes in “Power vs. Force,” “Every thought, action, decision or feeling creates an eddy in the interlocking, interbalancing, ever-moving energy fields of life, leaving a permanent record for all of time.”

The Earth’s geomagnetic field is connected to and interacting with all life on this planet, and its functions are only beginning to be understood. One function is to protect the Earth from solar winds — ionized particles traveling from the sun out into space. These solar winds have the potential to strip the Earth of its atmosphere. The geomagnetic field acts as an insulating buffer, neutralizing or deflecting potentially disruptive particles. Scientists believe a breakdown in this protective field on Mars might have long ago left our neighbor largely stripped of its atmosphere, resulting in a lifeless desert planet. So the field is important.

But how can what we are feeling and thinking, our consciousness, affect this geomagnetic field? Well, because of the way the brain works.

Noted author Neal Donald Walsch said in an interview featured in “The Change” that the human brain is like a transformer — it converts consciousness into usable forms of energy (electrical, magnetic). And those usable forms of energy are affecting the Earth’s field.

There are a lot more brains at work these days. Currently, the number of humans on Earth is more than 7 billion. It is estimated that we crossed the 7-billion mark around 2010. Just 200 years ago, the population of humans on Earth is estimated to have been only 1 billion. The Earth has experienced a huge change in just over two centuries (geologically, the blink of an eye). If we go back a little further to the year 1 A.D., we get a global-population estimate of 100 million. That means the human population has increased roughly 70 times since the year 1 A.D., with more than 85 percent of that growth coming in the final one-tenth of that time.

But it’s not just that more brains are at work. The potential for these brains to synchronize their activity has also increased. And the result is an exponentially more powerful effect.

Have you ever used a magnifying glass to focus sunlight on a dry leaf? With a little patience, you can ignite that dry leaf using nothing but focused sunlight. But the key is that the focus is held still, concentrated in one place.

In recent years, the energy of human consciousness has been focused by the magnifying glass of instant communication. Television and telephones increased our ability to communicate, but it’s really the internet that makes collective consciousness possible. And it’s only happened recently.

In 1993, the internet represented only 1 percent of all information flowing through two-way telecommunications networks. By 2000, it had reached 51 percent, and by 2007 more than 97 percent of telecommunicated information was delivered via the internet. It is estimated that 1 billion people now have daily access to the internet.

But how is the power of the individual choice increased? Positive choices, what some people call higher consciousness (such as feelings of acceptance, love, joy, and peace) are fundamentally stronger than negative or lower-consciousness choices. When you make a positive choice, your power is amplified. Take the example of “The Hidden Messages in Water” by Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto. When Emoto and his team photographed frozen water crystals, they discovered complex and beautiful crystal structures in samples that had been bombarded by positive messages (words, thoughts, feelings). Water that received negative information, however, developed random and distorted crystal structures. Seeing as the human body and the Earth itself are largely made up of water, it’s likely that consciousness plays an important part in determining the strength and organization of life’s physical structures.

It’s not just a matter of getting more positive messages than negative ones. The organizing power of positive consciousness is exponentially greater than the destructive power of negative ones. In “Power vs. Force,” Hawkins suggests that one person “at a consciousness level of 1,000 [very high — enlightened — consciousness] can, in fact, totally counterbalance the collective negativity of all of mankind.” Your positive choice can offset numerous negative choices.

Which brings us back to the power of choice. The portal is open. Data are being uploaded at a tremendous rate. If you believe in something, now is the time to share. Positive choices have tremendous power to uplift others. One positive choice has the power to go viral and influence the whole planet. The most-viewed YouTube video of all time, Psy’s “Gangam Style,” reached almost 2 billion views in a little more than two years’ time. Facebook just announced that its current total users is more than 1.1 billion people. Our positive choice, and all the power that is contained within it, has the potential to reach people like never before.

What will the Earth’s geomagnetic field look like if it is consistently bombarded by waves of anxiety, frustration, and loneliness? Will the structure of natural systems be compromised? Will weather patterns, biological cycles and chemical reactions be less stable? Will the geomagnetic field that protects Earth from harmful solar winds break down?

And, conversely, what effect will the power of human consciousness produce when it resonates with love and harmony? Could there be a vibrant state of life on this Earth that we haven’t seen yet? One that is only possible with that power of collective human consciousness? What would it look like? How would it work?

Each and every person’s participation is important to creating that reality. The more you think about it, the more you feel it, envision it and take action for it, the more you will transform consciousness into positive energy. We can only begin to imagine the beautifully complex structures that might result in the geomagnetic field, much like they do in water crystals bombarded by positive messages. So smile and take a deep breath. The blueprint is, after all, being uploaded from what is being produced by your brain.
