Almost Human: Fact or Science Fiction?

Frontpage SlideshowStories

The new Fox drama Almost Human is a police procedural with a sci-fi twist. It’s set in 2048, when crime is out of control and law enforcement is understaffed, so cops are partnered with humanoid robots such as Dorian (Michael Ealy). “He’s like a smartphone but a million times smarter. He’ll save lives by using all kind of technology. Anything that’s possible, this robot can do,” says creator J.H. Wyman.

This sounds like the fancy of imagination, but, according to Wyman, the artificial-intelligence capabilities his fictional android possesses are not very far from reality.
